How do you see it?!

This was my first Photojournalism assignment. We had to take one item and photograph it 20 different ways. This was forcing us to think outside of the box. Get different angles, lighting, ratios. We had to shoot the same item and still get a unique picture every time. These are my top favorites out of the 20 I shot.

This is one of my favorite favorites!

What's funny about this one is that I shot
it this way because my one item was the coke
bottle. But in reality...I prefer Pepsi over Coke!
BUT! I prefer Diet Coke over Diet Pepsi. So I think
it all evens out! Right?!

I know I know.......

I know I haven't posted in forever. I deeply apologize! Life has gotten beyond crazy but I think I have been able to get a handle on it... for a little while at least. Even though there is so much going on I have still found time to shoot.....just not post. So we are now going to take a little step back in time to look at what I have been shooting over the past few months. It will take a coupe of days to do so, but I think we can get it done. And when they're up let me know what you think! Here's a little teaser until the rest are up. This was an evening at Cypress on my way to class, and of course I had to stop and take a picture. So here ya go!

--cypress college--

this assignment was for available light class. we had to walk around campus and find natural situations where light illuminates a subject in a certain way. i spent an evening wandering around exploring and seeing what i could dig up. here are a few places that i found-----

inside the theatre on campus--looking up at the ceiling

the drinking fountain outside of the
theatre entrance in the lobby

the tall...monument...statue looking...thing
in between the bookstore and the administration buildings

the ceiling inside the lobby of the theatre.
the street lights cast a squiggly glow which gave it a cool effect

here is a different drinking fountain inside the same
theatre lobby---but i took this picture because of the
many spot lights that were placed in the ceiling---which
cast some very dramatic light---

and here is the same tall...monument...statue thing
on the edge of campus---at night---

~~~~~~puffy clouds~~~~~~
This is a picture of Heart lake---on the road of many lakes---to reach the final destination of Gem Lake.These lakes are a part of the Ansel Adams Wilderness near Yosemite National Park. I have now hiked this trail twice and both times there has always been a new beauty along the way.I love photographing nature in its glory. It is such a huge reminder of how vast and beautiful our world is and Who created it all. Whenever I feel uninspired or burned out in photography, I go and photograph nature. -----It takes my breath away-----
--playing-------
this was the second day of my wedding class at cypress college. today we were learning and refreshing some basic camera functions. everyone is class was supposed to bring their cameras so that we could just mess around and get hands on with our own equipment. it was a good refresher course for me. i had more fun though taking pictures of everyone else instead of the white board------------------------------------
i also got some funny faces too!
hi raul!
the room was segregated between canon and nikon so that we could help each other.
i was on the canon side-------with my wonderful 50D
we had lots of fun--------find out what we did the next week-----stay tuned!
---Matt---
Matt and I had a great time at Irvine Regional Park! We walked all around finding all kinds fun places to take pictures. We laughed a lot and I was able to capture some really fun moments!
This railroad track is from the mini kids train that goes around the park. We hopped over the fence and got a few pictures in before the train came around again. It was so much fun!
Congratulations Matt on finishing High School! I can't wait to see (and taste) what sort of things you cook up in college!!!!
my little brother and me ;-)
i hope everyone's summer went well and that they
were full of laughter and adventure!
~Colleen~
Colleen! I have known Colleen for over ten years now, and have watched her grow up into a beautiful young woman! We had soooooo much fun taking her senior pictures. We just played on the playground by her house and I took pictures. These are just a few... of a lot of my favorites... from the tons of pictures we took that day. Enjoy!
Thank you Colleen for playing with me and being such a wonderful friend! You are truly beautiful. Inside and out. May God bless you as you start a new journey in life and enter the world of College!!!!
The Good Ol' Days~Portrait Class~Fall 2008
This was a fun assignment! We had to do a period picture with props and all. We could either copy a Norman Rockwell painting or create an original image with a Norman Rockwell feel to it. So I cleared all the furniture in my living room, dressed up my little brother, put him in front of my camera and studio lights and shot away. We had a lot of fun!!!
This is one of my favorite Norman Rockwell paintings. It's when the little boy looks through his father's dresser door and finds a Santa Clause outfit and discovers that his father is really Santa!!!
Glass~Studio Lighting Class~Spring 2009
These are the two images my partner and I shot last semester in school at Cypress College. We had so much fun and spent a total of 3 days in the studio in order to produce these shots.This was one of the most time consuming shots but also one of the funnest!!!
this first shot got us an A++!
this next one only got us a B+
we actually spent more time on this one and finished it first, but because we had worked so hard on it the other one came more easily and ended up being better than the first!
Baby Noah
Noah Tanner is by far the cutest model I have ever had! He was so good while I was taking pictures and he only cried once. He is only a month old in these pictures and he was already trying to hold up his head and move around! I just couldn't get over how adorable he was and is! He is such a blessing from above and I am so thankful that I got to take pictures of the tiny moments at the beginning of his life! These are some pages that I put together of some of my favorite shots. I hope you enjoy them!
